Danube InGrid

Smart grid Project of
Common Interest of the European Union

Phase 2

🪧Under construction🪧

About the project

The project contributes to the implementation of the PCI 12.3 Danube InGrid, which aims to efficiently integrate the behavior and actions of all market users connected to the electricity networks in Hungary (HU) and Slovakia (SK), by developing modern infrastructure and adopting smart grid technologies to support the increasing demand of consumers, prosumers and distributed renewable energy sources.

The project aims to reinforce and digitalize the distribution grid in Slovakia by modernizing and upgrading the electrical infrastructure.

The project covers constructing new and upgrading existing medium-voltage (110/22 kV) substations and lines and installing new communication equipment and smart components in 22 kV lines and secondary substations, such as optical fibre, 4G systems, and monitoring and remote-control devices. The scope also includes the development of ICT-based control systems, such as a meteorological data exchange platform and an anti-drone monitoring system.

The overall objective of Danube InGrid 2nd Phase is to contribute to establishing a smart electricity grid integrating the behaviour of producers, consumers, and prosumers, achieving a stable, efficient, and sustainable power system, ready to meet the evolving challenges of the European Energy sector.

• The Danube InGrid 2nd phase is on the current PCI list of the European Union 12.3 Danube InGrid
• The Danube InGrid 2nd Phase is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) of the European Union Action no. 12.3-SK-W-M-24-DanubeInGrid2ndPhase
• Danube InGrid 2nd Phase value: 65,76 million EUR
• Danube InGrid 2nd Phase CEF co-financing: 32,88 million EUR
